The Gen Z Voice You Can Trust

About Me
Growing up in Iowa, as the youngest of four overachieving kids, I had to fight for my voice to be heard. But that's where my creativity blossomed. Since I was young, I've told stories. Whether that be putting on plays with my many cousins (and taking it way too seriously) or always being the first to volunteer to read in front of the class. It's not the attention I craved (okay, maybe a little bit), but it was the feeling of being heard.
You could say I got addicted to that feeling. In high school, I convinced my very apprehensive parents that being an actor was something I could do as a career. Despite the many doubts thrown my way, it only made me want to pursue this dream harder. Can you tell I hate being told "no"?
Now, I've been an actor for over a decade. I don't have to fight for my voice to be heard anymore, in fact, people pay me to use my voice! But what that constant fight taught me, is that I can give the gift of being heard to others.
Since 2018, I have been deeply involved in the stuttering community. People who stutter are often overlooked, ostracized, and silenced. But not at the two non-profits I've been lucky enough to work for. At SAY (The Stuttering Association for the Young) and SPACE (Stuttering, People, Arts, Community, Education), we embrace stuttering. Stuttering is more than okay, it's beautiful. We believe every voice deserves to be heard, no matter how you speak.
My advocacy and volunteer work with the stuttering community and beyond, keeps me grounded. Yes, I'm an actor, but more than anything, I'm a human being that can make a difference.
Acting gave me the chance to be heard, to tell my story. Now, I want to help tell yours. Let's create together!
